Since 1938, the Canby Kiwanis Club has offered a helping hand in our local area and in the world. We subscribe wholeheartedly to the Kiwanis International motto: “Serving the Children of the World.” Most of our volunteer and fundraising activities are directed to activities that help young people.
READ, READ, READ: Canby Kiwanis started offering Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in spring 2017. Children from birth through their 5th birthday who live in the Canby School District can receive a free book every month by mail. In 2016, Canby Kiwanis donated $50,000 to the City of Canby to help furnish the Children's Area of the new Canby Public Library. It's all in keeping with our motto, "Serving the Children of the World."
We seek new members from all walks of life who share our commitment to volunteerism, community improvement and good fellowship. Please attend one of our luncheon meetings if you would like to learn more. Our regular meetings are Mondays from noon to 1 p.m. in the Town Hall room above the Thriftway Supermarket on Northeast Second Avenue.
Our major volunteer activities each year are our Food & Toy Drive in December, the Kiwanis One Day service project which is now held in October, and the Kiddie Capers Parade which opens the Clackamas County Fair in August. But we also provide support and sponsorship to a wide variety of other projects.
If you would like to help the children of our community, please join us! We would like you to be part of our strong community organization.
Canby Kiwanis has sponsored and organized the Kiddie Capers Parade, the opening event of the Clackamas County Fair, since 1948. Shown here are the Grand Marshals of the 2013 parade: scouts and leaders from Troop 258, which Canby Kiwanis has sponsored since 1939.
