Dance Party Kicks Off New Imagination Library Program in Canby - 05/17/2017

Canby Kiwanis held a sign-up event at the Canby Public Library on May 13 for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. The Alphabeticians played preschool rock and roll, families enjoyed corn dogs, popcorn, and crafts, and Granny Goose made an appearance, while new registrants received a copy of their first book, The Little Engine That Could. Canby Imagination Library now has more than 100 kids enrolled in the program, which provides a free book by mail every month to kids from birth to their fifth birthday who live in the Canby School District.

Leticia Angel wins April C.A.R.E. Award - 05/05/2017

Leticia Angel, campus security specialist and MEChA adviser at Canby High School, is the recipient of the April 2017 C.A.R.E. Award from Canby Kiwanis and the Canby School District. CHS Associate Principal Kimie Carroll nominated Leticia to receive the award.

"Leticia is amazing. She was hired two years ago as our Campus Security Specialist and immediately jumped in, making positive relationships with students and doing whatever was needed for our school," Carroll's submission read. She also became the adviser for Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztan. MEChA is a student organization that promotes higher education, culture, and history.
