Canby Kiwanis Community Food & Toy Drive

PUBLIC WORK PARTIES – VOLUNTEERS WELCOME

Clackamas County Fairgrounds Main Pavilion (back entrance), 694 NE 4th Ave. Canby, 97013

FOR THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 10:

NO Sunday work party.

MONDAY December 11: 5:30 p.m. until caught up

TUESDAY December 12: 5:30 p.m. until caught up

Wednesday the 13th from 5:30 to 8 is another great night for community groups to volunteer. This is when we pack the food boxes and finish bagging the toys.

These times are approximate and depend upon how many volunteers come on a given day. Check back here or on our Facebook page @canby kiwanis before you come, in case we cancel a work party that isn't needed. Contact Sharon Schneider ( 503-705-2736, e-mail: sharons1@monitorcoop.com)  for other questions.

Children are welcome with adult supervision, but please do not leave teens who will need a ride. We like to leave when we are done, and we are reluctant to leave teens in the dark, waiting for transportation.

Community Comes Together to Care and Share

The 2017 annual Kiwanis Canby Community Food & Toy Drive is now under way! Last year this massive community effort provided food boxes for 385 Canby families and Christmas toys for 1,050 children.

Canby Kiwanis Club has distributed food and toys to families in need at Christmas for more than 60 years, but the drive has become a community-wide event. Local individuals, businesses, service organizations such as Rotary, and churches donate food, toys, and money, collect items, and even come to help pack toys and food boxes. By coming together, we are able to help more people and ensure that no family goes without during this special time of year.

Last year our community stepped up and overcame terrible weather to make the Saturday deliveries. The entire drive could not have happened without help from Clackamas County Fairgrounds staff, Canby Boy Scouts & Cub Scouts, Baker Prairie Middle School Builders Club, Canby High School Key Club, Canby High School Leadership Classes, Canby Elementary Schools, Canby Rotary Club, Canby Rodeo Association, area churches, Bridging Cultures, The Canby Center, Canby Public Library, Canby Adult Center, Canby Fire, and the many people from Canby Now who responded to a plea for delivery drivers. Together, we made the holidays brighter for many Canby residents.
